I just traded my (1998) 955 FEL with 450 hours to my local dealer to buy a 4410 (Hydro trans) w/FEL.
955 Trade value = $10,500
4410 purchase with FEL(430), R4's, SCV = $22,400 plus $125 prep, $600 freight. Total, (on the farm)is $23,125
2 questions. 1.Fair prices? 2.Should I be comcerned about the new fangled electronics? I have read the discussions and they are mixed. I did find some 4400's (new) for sale and maybe I should stick with what is tried and true?

I was one of those who questioned the switches and the electronics. Then I realized that my 4100 has several switches hanging out in the weather too. There are at least three of them: one under the seat and at least one on each control lever for the trans and the PTO.
Bottom line: Two years out in the weather and no problems. And I am kinda sorry I raised so much hell over the topic to begin with, but I still don't quite get the load match thing.
That is my true confession for the month. Mark ....

Karl,
To your first question...Since you've already made the deal, I won't go there.
Second Question...I have a 4610 ehydro and haven't had any problems with the electronics. Some one did post that a JD mechanic told them, out of all the electronic switches, a bad PTO switch is the only one that would keep your tractor from going.

I looked at the new 4510 and was thinking how the compacts are moving fwd like their big brothers.
My take on those switches mounted out in the weather is: I work in the road construction industry. Switches have been out there in the weather for a long time, abused and misused and they are still working.
Bottom line JD did not just invent those switches last week:-). If you wanna see lots of electronic switches go look at new Caterpillar equipment. Heck just look at one of the big JD's on the tractor lot... ....
